There’s nothing we do in this world that doesn’t require effort and action.
If you want to get ahead or create more, it simply takes more action than others are willing to take.
Getting a puppy, having kids, earning a degree with higher level education, following your dreams…all action. Action. Action. Action.
The problem with action is that it sounds like work. Work isn’t a fun word. Work is work. Work is something we “have” to do so we can earn time off. There’s Monday, the day with the highest percentage of heart attacks, the Tuesday blues, Wednesday hump day, Thursday the downhill slide and finally casual Friday! Then it’s time to let loose and enjoy the weekend! Oh wait, errands, laundry, chores, maintenance, kids’ activities, dog walks. Work kinda spills over into the weekends too, doesn’t it? It’s just different kind of work for some of us.
But that’s why we have vacations! We’ve got to work Real hard though to get more time off. Flights, beaches, Disneyland or Disneyworld, camping, hiking, skiing, money, money, money, debt, debt, debt, work harder, longer, put off retirement.
Action, work, work, Action.
Done.
Let’s look at this a little differently. Let’s tweak it a bit. Let’s stop with all the action and first get into a different perspective. Once we change our perspective, we can take INSPIRED ACTION.
Inspired Action looks a lot like work to an outside observer, the only difference is the WHY behind it by the person doing it. It makes Monday thru Sunday purposeful and fulfilling too, no matter the to-do’s. It becomes a beautiful blend of life instead.
NOTHING HAS TO CHANGE IN LIFE FOR LIFE TO TRANSFORM, OTHER THAN THE PERCEPTION OF LIFE.
And once that perception has changed for someone, THEN their life will change. But maybe not to the outside observer.
Let me give you a personal example. I created a goal to write a book and make it a best seller. I was INSPIRED to make it happen. From the outside looking in, it looked like work. Up at 4:30 am daily for 8 months. In the first 7 months it gained no traction. I talked about it, had coaching calls, planned, typed, formulated outlines, worked on rough drafts, overcomplicated it all…then something finally clicked. But I was inspired the whole time, despite all the challenges. Once something clicked I had it done in 3 weeks. I never thought of giving up, I knew it was in me. And, yes it became a number 1 best seller on Amazon for a short while…in 2 countries and top 10 in 6 different countries.
If it came from, “I have to,” with no bigger WHY than that, there would have been no way to endure the challenges. If it came from I have to get up early, I have to write/edit/write/edit, I have to pay a coach for help, I have to pay the publisher, I have to pay the printer, I have to pay the designer, I have to pay the marketer/ the promoter…. Oh, it all sounds so self-defeating doesn’t it? It drains our energy to say the words, “I have to.” How can we endure any challenge, if there’s not a bigger WHY behind it? I once read a book called, Deep Survival, by Laurence Gonzales. Here it is.
Spoiler alert: He concludes in countless stories the difference between those that live through insurmountable odds simply had a bigger WHY.
No more “have-to’s.” Change your perception – change your life. Find inspiration Monday thru Sunday.
Dig deep, find your WHY and act from INSPIRATION.
