When was the last time you buckled over in a gut busting belly laugh? You know, the one where you almost lose your breath, tears streaming down your face, hand slapping your leg…
If it’s been awhile, you need to get yourself some! And you need to do it often.
Not only does laughter decrease stress hormones, it also increases your immunity and your resistance to sickness. It also releases endorphins (feel good biochemicals from your body’s innate pharmacy) which promote overall well-being and pain relief.
With so much stress, anxiety, worry and fear in our society, it’s so easy to get caught up in the field of negativity. Long faces, stern faces, grumpy faces, sad faces, furrowed brows are way too prevalent. And they can be contagious, causing you to lose your perspective on what is good in your life.
If you aren’t careful you can get sucked in.
Why is it hard for so many to find a reason to laugh? Because they are in too deep. They are immersed in a negative perspective believing that what they perceive as reality is true and they’ve lost hope.
How can you help them and help yourself?
Laughter can be just as contagious as negativity. Laughter uplifts, regardless of what you are laughing at, it will bring a smile to anyone observing, and maybe laughter will rise up within and out of them as well!
So, ask yourself what/who makes you laugh? Where’s your go-to laughter generators?
Who around you can help create that environment?
What TV shows, comedians, movies do you need to watch?
What jokes do you know that you need to share?
