How to become friends with your Alarm Clock
November 2, 2017

I’ve heard it said that the tone of your day is set within the first 5 seconds upon awakening.

Hmmm.

What does that look like for most of us?

“Aaaaghhh are you kidding me!?!, I need more sleep, hit the snooze! Hit the snooze!!, it’s dark outside still, it’s cold, I’m so warm and comfy, but I do have to pee…. OH, I am so not ready for the day to start.”

If any of that sounds a little familiar, don’t worry, you’re not alone.

No one wants to dread getting out of bed.

But, very few of us are motivated to peel back those covers and hop into a brand-new day.

What’s the solution?

Well, I’ve got a great challenge for you. It’s worked for me, and it’s worked for a lot of people who are willing to have a go at it. If you’re someone that wants to feel better about yourself and those first 5 seconds of waking, then read on my friend!

Here goes…it’s actually really simple: Choose one of the three following statements to repeat over and over and over and over again immediately upon hearing your alarm or once your eyes open…and refrain from that snooze!

Your magic statements:

1. I am good enough!

2. I AM SUCCESSFUL!

3. I am loved.

Choose which one resonates with you the most. Then repeat it. Over and over.

At first you probably won’t believe what you are saying, and your body will want to revolt and rebel with this newfound attempt at generating energy from within. But it works! It really does. You must give it a chance though. Commit to a month, at least.

Lastly, if you plan for and build in “snooze time,” then STOP IT, cold turkey! Instead, go ahead and set your alarm for a bit later and enjoy those extra unconscious sleepy time minutes…but when you hear the familiar noise that usually puts you into a frustrated haze of half/asleep half/ awake restlessness of the impending day, JUMPSTART yourself with your new repeated phrase.

You’ve got this, I know you do. Because YOU are good enough, YOU are successful and YOU are loved.
