What we manifest, lies before us.
~Author Garth Stein in his awesome book, “The Art of Racing in the Rain”
The estimated 40-60 thousand thoughts we think in a single day brings forth the emotions we feel and experience. The molecular, genetic researcher, Candace Pert wrote a book about them called, “Molecules of Emotion.”
The emotions we feel drive us to either act on an idea or not act on an idea. When we act or don’t act, it leads to a result whether that result is desirable or not.
To recap, our Thoughts create our Emotions which create our Actions, which then creates a Result. T -> E -> A -> R. If we look at our lives and see things we don’t like around us, how can we begin to go about getting a different result?
When you look at the T-E-A-R, you quickly realize, all you need to do to get a different result is do something different with either the T (thoughts), the E (emotions), or the A (actions). You could choose to think different thoughts than you’ve thought before. Maybe you beat yourself up in the past with statements like; “I don’t have what it takes,” “I’m not good enough,” or “I’m not smart enough.” I guarantee your life will be different if you commit to saying instead, “I have what it takes, I am good enough, and I am smart and intelligent.” You will feel better and be led to take different actions which will then lead you to a different result!
Author, speaker, and chiropractor, John Demartini has studied human potential and development for decades and speaks worldwide on personal growth. He states as humans, we all have the capacity to possess over 4000 traits. That breaks down to a lot of emotions we could experience which then drives our actions, right? Well, what do you think would happen if you made the conscious choice to feel different about something you don’t like your current results about? If you have a problem with money, would it be wise to consider that the emotions you currently have toward money may not be serving you well?
If you want to be healthier, lose weight and exercise for a better quality of life, could you choose to get your butt out of bed early and go for a walk, even though you may not necessarily feel like it, or want to? You could act on it anyway, not hit the snooze, roll out of bed and get moving, which would lead you to a different result!
Many people have successfully overcome challenges by doing just that. They’ve fought through negative thought patterns and faulty belief systems that were not serving them. They chose to feel different about something they wanted to change and they chose to act in different ways. It was the brilliant Albert Einstein who said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result.” So there you have it, pick a letter; T – E – A and create a different R!
Is there a faster way? You betcha! It comes down to ONE WORD: COMMITMENT. Commitment to a desired result brings forth the willingness to push forward. To wake up and not hit the snooze, to go outside of your comfort zone and not allow those butterflies in your stomach to cause you to take a “chicken exit,” to walk up to that person and have a conversation you know you need to have to move forward in your life. Commitment will allow you to see farther than your problems and be optimistic that solutions will come about as you keep taking one more step.
Commitment. Commitment is the fertilizer to the roots of THOUGHT that then create the trunk of EMOTIONS, the branches of ACTION and the fruit of the RESULTS in your life.
Where in your life are you going COMMIT to creating a different result?
