Have you ever watched a movie and got the goosebumps (in a good way)? Have you ever read something in a book and got the goosebumps?
Current science tells us that they can happen when we experience an emotion of fear, excitement or sexual arousal. Interesting. You would think though, that if that was the case, that anytime you experienced fear, excitement, or sexual arousal, you’d experience goosebumps. And if you have experienced goosebumps with those emotions, have you ever had a greater emotional experience where you didn’t get goosebumps? Think about it? Furthermore, current science says, the actual goosebumps are caused by the sympathetic fight/flight system. Hmmm. That’s interesting too.
On a more exciting, quantum level – that Newtonian science attempts to explain in a super boring, dry, “take all the fun out of it” way, we can gain a deeper appreciation and understanding that something else is in fact happening.
You cannot argue personal experience. I will tell you with certainty, personally, and in hearing multiple accounts from other people who have watched movies, read books, witnessed beautiful outdoor landscapes and that before a thought and/or emotion develops, boom, goosebumps are there. There was no fear, no sexual arousal, no excitement. They were not getting ready to fight or flee. They were in AWE. Something triggered something in them and they had a feeling that it was something special.

I’ll leave you to deduce your own personal belief and meaning of goosebumps and I’ll also leave you some suggestions. We are all intrinsically motivated by different factors. You can call it environmental influences, or whatever, but here’s what I suggest: those goosebumps are connecting you to something greater. The message you are reading, the meaning of the movie you are watching, the beautiful landscape you are witnessing is connecting you to a larger, deeper, more meaningful aspect of your existence that we can understand now with quantum physics. For now, welcome the goosebumps when you are in a state of awe. And ask yourself, “How do I do more, watch more, listen and read more that brought those on in the first place?” You will be stepping into a more fulfilling life. Guaranteed (scientifically). 🙂
