Is this title literal, or figurative?
Truth? It’s both.
Start with the junk drawer, for real!
Your energy state is a feeling made up of the thousands of thoughts that drift through your conscious mind daily. It gives rise to your emotions. Oftentimes if we are in a negative emotional state, what we innately desire and crave is balance, control, organization, and clarity.
There’s no better or easier place to go than to start with your junk drawer. Go for it. Clean it out and see how you feel afterwards.
Have you ever had the opportunity to purge or clean out a closet, a garage, go through old boxes of stuff you used to think was important?

It’s cleansing. No one regrets a good purge. And it lifts your energy of feeling like you’ve accomplished something.
Where do you go next, after your junk drawer? Start talking to yourself in a positive way. Tell yourself you are a clean, organized, responsible person. Tell yourself you have what it takes to keep things in order. And then go prove it to yourself with the small stuff.
That straw wrapper you were tempted to throw on the floorboard of your car…throw it in a trash can instead. The dirty socks lying behind the hamper…go in the hamper. The bathroom mirror with specks of food from flossing and splashes of toothpaste and water from drying out your toothbrush, wipe it down clean. Tell yourself, “I’ve got this, I am a clean, organized, accomplished, responsible person.”
What’s the benefit of all of this?
Your subconscious mind wants to keep you safe and alive. In a zone of comfort. That’s its job. If you have negative emotion, it means to your subconscious that you are exceeding what you can do and it’s time to shrink your comfort zone. Then it becomes a vicious circle. In a smaller comfort zone, you feel less capable, less in control, less, less, less. You feel more overwhelmed easily, you feel more burdened, more out of control of the circumstances around you.

YOU’VE GOT TO REVERSE THAT – YOU’VE GOT TO BUILD ACCOMPLISHMENT ENERGY! YOU’VE GOT TO INCREASE THE SIZE OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE, BECAUSE THE RESULTS YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE IN YOUR LIFE AREN’T DEEP WITHIN YOUR COMFORT ZONE, THEY ARE ON THE PRECIPICE, THE EDGE.
You’ve got to keep growing to feel good and to do that, you’ve got to feel good in the first place to grow. To feel good, you’ve got to feel like you can handle things in your life. The junk drawer, the closet, the garage, then it grows to become your workspace, your planning, your career path, your fulfillment in relationships, on and on.
You really do have what it takes, you’ve just got to know how to go about it!
Start small – go BIG.
