Proof the world really is a great place
July 20, 2017

Crushing barriers.

You’ve got to watch this video for quite a shock and realization that we are all a lot more alike than we think.

In this video by Heineken beer they have two people that are polar opposites and they meet together for a beer. But first while alone each one in the pair is interviewed for their specific world views, cultural views, racial views and opinions. Some are downright so polar, they are scary and you find yourself thinking, is this real? How are there people in the world like this?

Then the two people with polar opposite views meet. They are assigned a small project they have to work together on, and then ask each other a series of questions. They chat and find what they have in common. They laugh, they smile, they joke. Then while together, they are shown the videos of their individual interviews. Their anger, their racial prejudice, their belief in inequality shines through, while the other one is sitting there with them! After each one of their individual interviews are shown, they have an opportunity to leave each other, or sit together for a beer…a Heineken, of course.

Today is International Picnic Day!

All chose to sit together. And it wasn’t long before there were smiles again. Laughing again.

If it doesn’t bring a tear to your eye, then maybe you and I need to sit and have a Heineken together.

The world is really a BIG place, but we all really have the same fears, frustrations, worries. When we let go of illusions and prejudice, we open to the realization that we really can find a way to love our perceived enemies. Especially when we understand their background and where they came from. It’s a great and timeless concept to put into practice.
